Group,
This event has been changed due to trail conditions in TN. The trails have been badly washed out by heavy rain fall. The event has been changed to the U.P. of Michigan.

We've moved the June Jamboree | Side X Side Nation

We are moving the Ride to Trout Lake in Michigans upper penninsula. I understand that many of our southern friends won't be able to make it. I'm sorry for that as were we're looking forward to see all of you. We searched for quite a while to find a suitable spot near Hatfield McCoy but it's just too late in the year and all the spots were taken. Anyone is Welcome to attend our Trout Lake event. It should be a good time. Timothy Baker from the Way Back Group has offered to guide us on a few of the days and we should see quite a few of the sites such as Taquomenon falls while on the trail. Here are phone numbers to the campground and several places with cabins in the area.

There is a lot of vacation fun to have in the Trout Lake area. In addition to the nice trails this will be a short drive by car to St. Ignace, Mackinaw City, Mackinac Island, a nice casino, and lots of other scenic attractions. Best of all, you will get to drive across the Mackinac Bridge on the way to Trout Lake!
I am looking forward to this event and hope a lot of you can make it!

We are definetly working on getting things in order to be there. Have been to mackinaw many times and look forward to going back. Really like the UP area and we have been discussing going there before the Jamboree change. Will reservations be needed at the campground?

Woops...forgot to add...which campground would be best and give access to trails? Prefer full hookup if possible but we can be fully self contained if needed.

I wish I could make it, but that's just too far and too late to make plans. Y'all have a great ride!

Don't get me wrong, I like driving in the mountains, but I also like riding in Michigan very much. I love to gawk at the scenery and it is much easier if you don't have to worry about rolling down the mountain. :) Riding in the UP is always fun and interesting for a lot of us.

Riding in the U.P. is great. Lots of sights to see, nice trails, and lots of them. Not to mention getting to see old friends and make new ones.

I've ridden these mountains my entire life, so I'm not stranger to "rough trails". But I'm tellin' ya, when it's waist deep mud, rutted out by Jeeps with 40" tires, downright impassable, and you're having to winch up a hill in the dark when you had plans of having eaten and been home long before now, the fun is over and it's work. Not to mention the repair bills from all the crap that you broke that day.

Sounds like a great time. I never plan to be home at a certain time, always have plenty of food with me, and have a winch for a reason

Not my idea of fun either.....I would much rather ride a smooth trail than do repairs!!

I've ridden with Jerry many times. We actually ended up spending a night on a nearby mountain, not by design. Parts broken, Side by sides disabled, mine included, and people hurt. Trust me if he says it's not worth the risk take his word. I will try and find some old pics from trail 57 at Windrock. Every time I drive by that mountain I cringe, lol.

@offroadohio , maybe this is an opportunity to use some inside information on the area and take advantage of it...? It sounds like this sort of riding is in your wheelhouse.
For those of us who ride in larger groups with all sorts of different machines and skill sets, these conditions are not good at all. If Jerry says it too extreme for this sort of ride, it is. He has been involved in these large group rides for a very long time and is one of the most experienced riders there is. I think most of us like to get into the challenging technical stuff from time to time, but not on a jamboree like this. There are groups who may split off looking for this sort of stuff, but its not good when the main trail is like this for the rest.
The only bad part of the diversion to MI in this case is the loss of our southern crew who wont be able to make the trek. Michigan is far from "flat land" riding. The U.P. is some of the nicest and most scenic riding there is and is a beautiful place. There is all sorts of varied terrain if one chooses to pursue it. There is a reason the U.P. of Michigan is a destination for ATV's and Snowmobiles alike.

I was planning to make this ride, and the relocate is closer, but ill still be heading to tn. Doesnt sound as though the riding style of this group fits my needs.

    Yall have a good time.

Great. Sounds like a win win. I hope you and your crew find what you are looking for. Be sure to take some pics and share with the group.
