    2019 Polaris General 4

With my big General build going on, I am of course upgrading the wheels and tires. I will post more details on this over on my build thread, but I can tell you they are bigger and much heavier. Like 38-39# a tire!
That combined with the added weight of the accessories I am adding and the tuned ECU, a quality, properly tuned clutch kit was 100% needed. Of course I contacted the best over at DDP, @DirtyDawgDale

Here is the kit. A set of billet weights already set up. A custom helix. Both primary and secondary springs and all sorts of extra weights to custom tune or adjust for future changes.

A shot with the CVT cover off and the primary cap off to change out the spring and weights. Being a new machine I left the primary clutch on. If this thing had some miles, I would take this opportunity to pull it and do a good deep clean. The weights and spring are very easy to change with the clutch on the machine.
Notice I marked the clutch and cap for proper alignment as this is a balanced assembly.

The stock weights versus the billet DDP parts.

Here are a couple shots of the primary off and in the press. The second shot is with the helix off, spring and spider out.
The old versus new parts are on the bench.

While the secondary was off I also upgraded the stock square pucks with round rollers. These square pucks are known to cause accelerated wear on the secondary. Very easy swap. Just need a roll pin punch and the new rollers.

I also bought a couple tools to make the job easier. The secondary press makes this job super easy. I liked the feature on this one of the stepped disk that will go into the clutch to get the helix aligned. I also got a primary puller to have on hand since I like to pull the clutches every so often to check for wear, damage and to clean. Very nice tools and both make a nice addition to my garage.

I will report back after I get some miles on the new set up this spring.

Nice work!...Will be interesting to see how it performs now with the kit and big tires. Also the switching to round rollers looks like a good deal as well. Any idea why polaris is using the square ones?

That is a great question, and I have no idea. They already use the round on the helix spider. Seems like it would not cost any more to just use the round ones. I guess then, they would not sell as many secondary clutches for replacements.
