If 22 ammo was easy to get in my area it would be my #1 .
45acp in any 1911 platform rank's right up there with a .22. My everyday concealed carry is a 5 inch Para BlackOps 1911 .45 single stack in a Kelley Gunleather C-flex in horse leather and an A&G Custom Gunleather double bull hide gun belt.

    I have a few poly gun's in 9mm and my wife has a S&W Airweight .38.

My .45 ACP Springfield Range Officer Compact is my favorite, for carry, and my .460 S&W in my PC S&W for hunting.

I agree, I am definetly a fan of Springfield Armory. I've had lots of 1911s and my Springfields are top notch. I have a Colt XSE Commander, and a Rock Island 10mm also. I'd like to add a Dan Wesson Stainless specialist to the collection.

I have a RIA Officer 9mm and it's a great little gun for the price. The DW Guardian has been on my list for awhile. A NightHawk T3 is my "want to add" to my collection.

9mm - because I shoot about 10,000 rounds of it each year.

Platform I like the 2011's from STI or Hayes. It's like a 1911 but better!

I have mine loaded alternating .410-45 Long Colt - .410 - 45 Long Colt .... If I don't hit ya, you are getting the hell out of dodge. Patch holes and paint latter.

Ruger vaquero bisley model in 45 long colt. I never leave the house without it. You just can't go wrong with an old single action. For my everyday carry a Springfield xds 45 is a great option too

Call me old fashioned... I like the Glock 17 and the trusty SW 357 mag. Snake/rat shot for the first round, then it gets serious.

    9mm
Cheap to shoot, high cap. mags, easy to keep on target, ammo found everywhere. What's not to love?

As for MFGer, I'm becoming a S&W fan myself. Love my Shields! Also really like my CZ75.

Another nice thing about the 9mm is the ammo I carry for my pistols also easily works in my carbines.

The wife and I are planning to get our CPL's this summer sometime. The 9mm SW Shield is on my short list as an every day carry piece. I checked one out at Cabela's on Friday and really liked it. It felt like a good fit for such a small gun. They had the normal and the performance model. I gotta say, at first blush, I really liked the fiberoptic sights on the performance model.

never seen the performance model, but I can tell you first hand, the S&W Shields shoot every bit as good as they look.. I got my dad a .40 cal for Christmas (they were out of 9mm) and I hoped that it wouldn't be to "snappy"... I was shocked at how well it shot for a high powered round in that small of frame.

I don't think there's a better handgun on the market right now. Stay away from the Ruger LC9s, they don't shoot that well, and the trigger pull just stinks.

I have a LC9 and once you master the trigger it's not that bad. My wife and I also shoot her hammerless S&W .38 that help's a bunch with the trigger pull.

Runt- I've heard they've improved the trigger on the LC9, but I have one from the first year they were built, and the trigger pull is LOOOOOOONG. I still carry it as an ankle rig (backup), because it is the most slim, and light 9mm I know of, but as a primary weapon, the Shield is it for me. Putting the LC9 on paper is a challenge for me and even my wife.... She couldn't shoot it, and didn't want it. So now we're a Shield couple, carry the same caliber and mags. I just smile when think about a mom with 4 kids having a 9mm stuffed next to the baby wipes in the diaper bag :D . I think I'd call that an element of surprise?
