Hey folks, have done a bit of reading here but havent found a post that suits my question strangely. I'm sure its here but I haven't found it.
    On to my question...
I've had dirt bikes, sport quads and utility quads I'm breaking into the SxS market slowly.
I'm looking for something that I can do some light towing with, maybe plow snow...BUT I want to have fun on the trails as well. Speed isnt paramount but I dont want to fall behind other riders.
What is the best dual purpose SxS for me that I can look for used and priced reasonably.
Thanks in advance for sharing your experience folks!

Polaris General would be a good choice.

Another vote for the General from me. Would fit your description perfectly.

Polaris General looks good bit dont see many for sale anywhere close to me.
I see Polaris Ranger, Yamaha Rhino and Kawasaki Teryx which seem to fit my needs?
Just wondering if any are fun on the trail?

I'd like to keep the purchase price under 10k.
The General seems too new to get anything in that range.

Hi Steve, Welcome to our family.
You are most likely looking for a good used SxS or old stock at 10K limit. Polaris Ranger, Yamaha Rhino and Kawasaki Teryx would all be a good choice.

If under 10k is your price ranger, you're going to have to make a compromise one way or the other, you could look at getting an older RZR 800S that would give you the sporty trail performance, but be a little less suitable for utility work, I have seen many people plow with them, but your towing would be limited to very light loads. On the other hand, a Ranger or the like would be the exact opposite, do well for the utility work, but beat you up a bit if you try to keep up on the trails at any speed.

Regardless, when buying these things used, make sure you find out as much about the use and maintenance as you can. Those are extremely important to the longevity of these machines. The General was designed for the exact situation you describe, but like you've found, they haven't been around long enough to get anything in the 10k range.

We can buy new 570 mid size Rangers in this area for less than $10,000. Our local dealers are high discount and high volume. I don't know Canadian prices or discounts.
They are fun on the trail and quick too if they are twisty woods trails and they are very capable, but they don't ride as smooth as the larger Rangers or the RZR's.
My brother has one and it does great. That might be an option.

Should be able to get a new full sized 570 in the 10 grand range.

Canadian prices tend to be about 25% to 30% higher....so I was definitely looking used. If I enjoy the sport and use it quite a bit I'll look new or newer in a couple years. I tend to spend a lot to get into something then find it sits....so we'll see how this goes.
I bought an 09 Teryx on the weekend with low mileage that has been completely gone over by the dealer.
Looking for ward to picking it up and using it this spring.
Thanks for the advice and help guys....now to find some half doors for it....
